When we were looking for a hotel venue for a wedding dinner, my wife and I did our homework and finally decided on Marriott Tang Plaza Hotel, because in our view it was best able to meet and exceed all our criteria: 1. Able to comfortably accommodate at least 30 tables 2. High ceiling in ballroom 3. Central location for guests' convenience 4. Food served from a restaurant with great reputation and track record - serving food that was tasty and able to cater to our guests' dietary needs - from halal to vegan. 5. Reasonably-priced with good perks for the value offered 6. A banquet sales coordinator that was motivated, prompt and easy to work with With our wedding done and dusted, we can safely say what was actually delivered, from the planning stage till the AD far exceeded our expectations. The hotel infrastructure was already there and we'd already eaten the banquet food (Wan Hao restaurant) several times in recent years, so we didn't worry about (1) - (5). On the actual day, everything did run smoothly. Some of our guests commented that the food was one of the best they'd had in a wedding, and my vegan guests also commented that the food was really awesome and things went smoothly. For my wife and I, (6) is the icing on the cake. Getting to know and work with Denise Loo, our coordinator, whom we could really connect with, was simply amazing. It's difficult to find both a process and outcome oriented person. Two things really strike us about Denise - first, her genuine care and for her couples and second, her passion/sense of ownership of her work. As a result, we see her as a responsible, professional, tactful, quick-to-share-tips, calm and "scarily" prompt coordinator. She never once gave a hint of dissatisfaction at our constant queries or last-minute changes, much as we'd try to avoid them. I remember there are times that we'd deliberately not send her a text at night but wait until the next morning as we knew she'd respond even after her work hours (If you do choose Marriott and work with her, pls follow our practice if possible ok haha). You don't need an awesome coordinator to have a great wedding, you just need one that is professional. However, we can attest that having one really enhances the wedding planning experience and especially eases the bride's understandable worries. A great coordinator is truly an asset and competitive advantage to the hotel, especially one such as Marriott that should be able to tick most boxes for most couples out there. I wish all 2019 couples all the best - don't worry too much, do your part to plan it well and enjoy the big day! #goodthingsmustshare
