#GotHitcheed - Jacinda & Darryl: An Elegant, Gold & White Wedding at the Intercontinental

After meeting through family at a gathering for Chinese New Year, Jacinda fell for Darryl’s bad boy charms; ear piercings and all, I mean what teenage girl wouldn't? Seven years later, after a surprise proposal, they were tying the knot in style at the Intercontinental - with a grand entrance strewn with flowers, Jacinda made her way down the beautiful staircase to where Darryl waited awestruck, before walking hand in hand, man and wife, into the opulent ballroom. The space was bathed in gold and white with splashes of pink and maroon, it oozed elegance and sophistication - a far cry from Darryl’s bad boy ways; this couple is all grown up.

How did Darryl propose?

A few days before I followed my two best friends to a bridal studio for their fitting sessions, I told him ‘This is it. Is it confirmed that we will be marrying? If so, I will proceed to try wedding gowns since I'm there with them to save each others time’. He was taken aback and unbeknown to me he quickly planned a surprise proposal with my best friends. When I stepped out of the fitting room at the bridal studio in a wedding gown, he was there with a huge bouquet of flowers and a diamond ring (and my best friends' fiancés), I burst into tears the moment I saw him. I was really surprised, who would get proposed to in a bridal studio?!

Did you have a theme?

My theme was white, gold, maroon and pink. My bridesmaids were in white during the day and maroon in the evening. Most of my flowers and decoration were in this colour theme which matched the hotel ballroom perfectly. I didn’t use the hotel's themed decorations but worked with Wulala!, an event stylist, to keep it simple and elegant. Wulala! is amazing - I have full trust in their work and left them to do their magic.

Tell us about your bridal look!

I went to about 6 bridal studios before I decided on my gowns. I wanted a low back gown in an A line shape and a zip back, but I also wanted a mermaid gown to accentuate my curves. I couldn’t settle on one so I picked two different gowns, one for my solemnisation and one for the dinner banquet. I love them both!

Do you have a favourite moment?

I couldn’t pick just one but I loved how happy everyone was. From the start till the very end all I saw were the widest grins on all our loved ones faces. This was exactly what I had envisioned for my wedding day, all I wanted was everyone to enjoy themselves and be happy for us.

What advice would you give to new brides?

Consciously savour each and every moment of the day as it passes really quickly!

A huge congratulations to Jacinda & Darryl we hope your marriage is as beautiful as your wedding day.
