RedDot BrewHouse, the brainchild of Ernest Ng, is a labour of love and Singapore's first locally-owned, and independent commercial microbrewery. It's a great unconventional venue for couples who want a chill, relaxed atmosphere, with an ultra-personalised wedding and an opportunity to try all the varieties of their craft beers.

The Ambience
The brewery is housed in Dempsey, formerly the British army barracks in the 1800s and the old CMPB national service enlistment centre. Now, of course, Dempsey is filled with some of the best restaurants, retail outlets and more. RedDot BrewHouse took over one of these old dilapidated barracks and has since restored it to a welcoming space that includes an indoor and alfresco dining area, a bar area and the brewhouse, as well as a garden, with a total of about 10,000sq ft of space, perfect for a laidback wedding. Also, we love that they used some of the original bricks that are about 100-odd years old.

The Food
Couples intending to get married at the RedDot BrewHouse can have exclusive use of the whole space, which can accommodate up to 250 guests, standing and seated, or 100 pax in a communal seating arrangement with course-by-course serving. The food is mostly prepared in-house and the buffet menus range from S$80-S$100 per person and includes their signature craft beer--with as many varieties as you'd like or even free flow for two to three hours. The menu is primarily modern European with Asian flavours, and can cater for cocktail receptions with canapés or buffets. The lovely thing about RedDot BrewHouse is that everything can be customised to suit your preferences, even dietary preferences like low-carb, vegetarian, vegan and Halal. If you're super strict, you could also arrange for outside caterers to provide the food at the event.
Looking for the super Instagrammable dessert tables? Bring your own, as well as your own wedding cakes as they're not provided by RedDot BrewHouse, although they can include macarons in your menu (at an additional cost). Liquor and wine will also have an additional corkage charge.

The Decor
First things first, these guys have flair. When we arrived at their restaurant for the interview, we were dazzled by the Christmas decorations covering the restaurant area, as well as a display that all the staff put together featuring streetlights (made out of spoons, and with actual lighting), and of course copious amounts of "snow". (If you love Christmas, we highly recommend booking the venue during November and December!)
So you know that any wedding theme you'd want can be put together as well. The most basic package is the $1,000 decorations package, that includes flower arrangements, decorations, skirting, decorations for the buffet. You can also add in floral arches and any additional flower arrangements. Your colour themes, or any special requests for flowers, can all be accommodated, but bear in mind there are limits (such as the flowers not being in season and thus harder to find) and your budget may need to be increased. If you need, Red Dot can also help you get your flower bouquet and corsages at an additional cost.

Challenging Requests
We asked the Operations Manager, KS Ong, what he feels has been his most challenging request so far. He says that every couple gets the same amount of effort and care. He understands that weddings are emotional affairs, and can be challenging in this respect as he and his team will need to manage the couple--and their parents. He relates that there was one couple who even timed their steps and had to have several rehearsals to make their day perfect. If you have a special theme for your wedding, Events Manager, Melissa and her team will meet with you and discuss your expectations and see what can realistically be executed at the actual venue. Some of the most common themes include a Bohemian or European country wedding. They have planned weddings for a diverse range of couples, from interracial couples like Chinese and Indian, Indian and Swiss, Chinese and Eurasians.
Want to incorporate your beloved pets in your wedding? RedDot BrewHouse is a pet-friendly venue that doesn't just welcome dogs; you could even bring your beloved love birds on your wedding day. If you enjoy live music, engage a live band to perform at your wedding. Other requests they've had include one from Benjamin Ong (aka the guy and his groomsmen who dressed up in PAP colours) who removed all the tables and chairs for cocktails, had a centerpiece for the buffet, with two buffet lines and used a green carpet instead.
If you're worried about having enough parking (which can sometimes be a point of contention at weddings, believe us, we know), the area around the RedDot BrewHouse can accommodate up to 100 cars or more. Otherwise, you can do what a German-and-local couple are doing this year and charter a bus to make it more accessible for your out-of-town guests.

Need a day use room? KS says couples can use their office to change or relax before the rest of the day's festivities or to touch up their makeup. He says that most brides generally don't wear big ball gowns, so the space is suitable--in fact some even wear slippers as they reason they're here to enjoy!
Tea ceremonies can be arranged on the stage or on the left of the stage. The tea will be provided, and if necessary, their team can help out where necessary.
The Cost
The menus range from about S$60-S$100 plus per person. If you're booking the entire restaurant, then the minimum spending is S$25,000, and S$15,000 if you take half of the restaurant. He recommends taking the entire restaurant if you have more than 150 guests, and you can section out the areas so part of it can be used for cocktails and canapés and another for the actual dining.
