About Baba Chews Bar and Eatery

Baba Chews is a restaurant inspired by our neighbourhood - Katong. The name “Baba Chews” pays homage to Mr. Chew Joo Chiat (1857–1926), a wealthy local Chinese landowner and philanthropist, known as the ‘King of Katong’ for his contributions to the local community. Our restaurant sits on the site of the former Joo Chiat Police Station (1928 – 1987), which was granted conservation status by the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) of Singapore for its architectural & heritage value. Open all-day, Baba Chews serves a diverse menu of Mod-Sin (Modern Singaporean) dishes, local favourites, and western comfort dishes along with quality brews from Common Man Coffee Roasters & TWG tea, beers and alcoholic beverages
